WHAT IS SOCIAL MEDIA PSYCHOLOGY

Social media psychology is the study of how social media such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, and the likes affect and influence our judgment.  Whether we like it or not we are constantly influenced on a daily basis by what we hear and see, no wonder big brands often hire psychologists to help them create advertisements that will have a strong influence over the viewers. for instance, it has been proven that yellow colors help to create the feeling of joyfulness, warmth, and happiness, and red color signifies strength power, and passion: green is thought to show environmental friendliness

WHAT ARE PERSONAL SOCIAL SHARING QUALITIES

The New York Times conducted a study, and it came to the conclusion that everyone has unique social sharing features, characteristics, or make-up that directly affects how much information we share. These particular traits or features that influence how much information we disclose can be categorized into six categories, namely:
  • Careerists
  • Boomerangs
  • Altruists
  • connectors
  • Hipsters and
  • Selectives

DESCRIPTION OF SOCIAL MEDIA SHARING PERSONALITIES

Now let's get back to the various social media-sharing persona as stated above. I will briefly describe them starting with:
  • Careerists: People that only provide information or postings on their careers are referred to as careerists. This is a really intriguing category, I must say.
  • Boomerangs: This phrase is used to describe persons who disseminate things to influence how other people view them. I must admit that I occasionally act in this manner because I want to feel important.😊.
  • Altruist: This refers to people who share contents that will benefit others. A round of applause 👏.Altruists share messages that will benefit others even if it does not benefit them.
  • Connectors: They share information to establish connections with others or information that would facilitate their interaction with others.
  • Hipsters: Hipsters consider sharing to be a part of their identity. They freely and liberally exchange content. It is quite difficult for them to keep any information they learn to themselves.
  • Selectives: As the term suggests, they choose carefully what they want people to know and disseminate that information in a selective manner. They offer information there that they are certain their friends will find relevant and enjoyable.
Having said all these, here are some of the ways you can influence your audience to share your content.

WAYS YOU CAN INFLUENCE YOUR AUDIENCE TO SHARE YOUR CONTENT

  • Assist readers in self-definition. Humans are naturally drawn to things that we can relate to. Create topics that your audience can quickly relate to and identify with if you want your content to be easily shared by your audience.
Let's play a little game; I'll upload some pictures and list some terms. Try matching the words to the pictures, then leave a comment below.
1.    Organizer
2.    Communicator
3.    Creative
4.    Thinker
5.    Persuader
6.    Explorer

  • Establish a community by assisting your audience is interacting with your product and with other users of the platform through the comment area. I have to admit that I'm guilty of it. We are in the process of learning and relearning, I remarked in one of my writings. More user interaction in the comments section of your blog or website fosters relationships and strengthens the distinctiveness of your brand.
  • Make high-quality posts since you will receive the same value in return as you give to your readers. Since you are also learning when you produce informative material, you are not only helping your audience but also yourself. Give forth great stuff as a result if you want to learn more.
