What is the definition of  Domain forwarding?

Domain forwarding can simply be defined as the process of pointing or redirecting a domain to another domain. Domain forwarding is usually an automatic process once implemented. Eg. let's say you want to redirect your existing viewers from www.eatnow.com to www.eatquikly.com, you have to make use of domain forwarding.

Types of Domain Forwarding

  1. 301 Redirect( Usually permanent and best for SEO)
  2. 302 Redirect (Temporary)
  3. Forwarding with Masking (Forwarding with masking, does not show the new URL that visitors are redirected to)

Personal case study of Domain forwarding

Basically, I used domain forwarding when I wanted people to easily find or visit my website without inputting "www". Let me show you what happens when i input my domain name(profitimmediately.com) without "www". Whenever i input my domain name without www, the image of the webpage below shows

domain forwarding

However, when I changed to 301 redirects i.e when I used a permanent domain forwarding, I noticed that without adding "www" to my domain name, my website was found as opposed to the former. Howbeit when I applied to Ezoic so that I could get ads shown on my webpage, I could no longer use GoDaddy domain forwarding because I had to change my name server to Ezoic's name server. But the good news is this; if you will make use of ad networks such as propeller ads, adcash, etc that do not require a change of name servers, you will still be able to apply domain forwarding.
All the same, if you want your website to be found without the need to add www, you can use the redirect as described above however I feel that if you intend to use ad platforms that may require you to change your Cnames/ DNS record, it may not work. This is basically my own experience. A lot of things may change later in the future. Best of luck

CASE STUDY PROPER

A 301 redirect, which is regarded as one of the best ways to redirect a webpage and is excellent for SEO, is a permanent method of diverting a webpage from one place to another, according to MOZ.COM. When a page appears in search engine results, the usage of 301 redirects often aids in changing the URL of the page. If you want to create a website or launch an online store, it will be beneficial to pay close attention to this since it may have an effect on your website.

Here are some of the reasons to use a 301 redirect:

1.   Transfer of Domain: You should use a 301 redirect when you intend to transfer your domain from one host to another

2.    SIte Conversion: When converting your site from HTTP to HTTPS, it is ideal and best that you use a 301 redirect.

3.    Links: The best option to use when you intend to send links from an outdated URL to a new page is a 301 redirect e.g this can come in handy when you are trying to link two websites.

4.    Multiple URLs: If you use different URLs to access your site, you should select a single URL that is preferred by you and redirect traffic to your preferred website through 301 redirects.

5. Permanent Change: A 301 redirect is useful if you have permanently changed your website domain name and you intend to effortlessly move from your old website to the new one.

With a 301 redirect, search engines are informed that you have moved your website permanently and that all visitors should be diverted from the old site to the new one. Additionally, search engines move your rankings from your old website to the new one, preventing audience loss.
